RECLAIMED   BARN   WOOD   BATHROOM   VANITY

This vanity for a half bath is made from lumber reclaimed from a 125 year old barn.
The top wood with its rough-sawn marks came from the barn sides and the frame from its internal structure. The vanity legs are 4" x 4" and full of nail holes and character!

The finish is boiled linseed oil with several coats of oil based polyurethane to ensure that water will not be an issue.  I have definitely preserved and enhanced the reclaimed lumber's character and beauty.

RECLAIMED   pallet   WOOD   BATHROOM   VANITY  with   concrete   top

I know a guy who has LARGE pallets made from 3 inch square hardwood!
Because the wood is always stunning and very varied in color, grain, and condition, the results are particularly beautiful!   For this project, after sanding, we chose to not stain or oil the wood, instead opting for the natural conditions that the wood possessed.  This is for both the vanity and the mirror frames and shelves.
The concrete top is has some black dye added and poured in two fast curing batches to leave a character that fully compliments the reclaimed lumber of the vanity.

Reclaimed   vanity

The customer requested a reclaimed wood vanity for a very challenging and small space.  The vanity needed to be shaped so as to allow room to access the shower and to account for the large drain pipe in the corner.  To do both, the vanity was designed to have five uneven sides.  The complicated frame structure and shelf enabled access to the drain and water valves.   From the outside, the above sink, high faucet, and black fittings really make this vanity elegant.
